THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
This RCA was the first radio to utilize the new miniature tubes. When introduced in June of 1940, there was nothing like it on the market. As the first truly personal radio, it set the standard for all small portable radios that followed. It is an extremely compact portable. It is very clean with a minimal amount of corrosion in the "A" battery compartment. It uses a "D" size 1.5 volt battery for the filament supply, and a 467 for the "B" supply. Type 467 reproduction batteries are available, they are Excel 457/467. I did some testing using my battery eliminator and it tunes and makes noise, but until the capacitors are replaced it will not receive stations. Easy to do, but some like original. It is extremely nice and the leather case is in excellent condition. Would look great in your collection! 9"W x 3"H x 4"D, weighs 4.5 lbs. |
