THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
This is a novelty radio produced in the early 60s to promote the Champion line of spark plugs. It is an AC powered superheterodyne design with eight transistors, one diode, one thermistor and one silicon rectifier. AM Broadcast band only, RIC Japan on label inside of case. The high voltage electrode on top is the on/off switch and volume control, the top insulator is the tuning dial. The fellow I got it from said he bought it in 1963 and has had it in his garage since then. It works very well, displays well, and does have some dings on the base (to be expected after being in that environment for 50+ years). It is large, 14-1/2"H and base is 8-1/2"D x 5"W. Sure to "spark" conversation (had to say that)! Guaranteed to work when you receive it, with 90 day warranty. |
