Jackson-Bell 556 (1936)
(wood tube table radio)

Jackson-Bell 556 (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This is a rare surviving table model radio made for Jackson Bell in Los Angeles by Pacific Radio Corporation. It is shown in Stein's Vol III on page 117. It is solid wood with veneer on the front, and has been beautifully refinished. The dial is really unusual and attractive. It has been electronically restored with new filter caps plus a few other caps and plays well on all three bands (as shown in closeup of dial). Tube lineup is 5W4, 6A8, 6K7, 6Q7, 6F6 and all are in excellent condition. New vintage type power cord and grille cloth installed. The only other non-original part is the speaker; it is a PM type. The field coil from the original speaker is still being used and is mounted next to the speaker. The chassis is very clean, and is marked as Model 55, so may have been used in other radio models. I have chassis pics so please ask. It is a very unusual and attractive radio so will surely be special in your collection. 15-1/2"W x 9"H x 7"D, shipping weight 18 pounds.
