RCA Radiola 46 Lowboy (1929)
(wood tube console radio)

RCA Radiola 46 Lowboy (1929)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

BC. The Radiola 46 was the console version of the Radiola 44; unlike any of the 46's I've seen pictured, this one is in a very unique Lowboy cabinet. This cabinet featured a beautiful cutout grille with the correct reproduction grille cloth and and a stunning quartersawn oak front dial panel with a projection dial screen and concentric knob assembly. While this cabinet was built by a furniture manufacturer to house this specific chassis, it's not the factory Radiola 46 cabinet used in other 46's Ive seen, nd I cannot find any listings or pictures of it; so there is a story here about this cabinet that remains a mystery... The chassis in this console is complete with all the correct shielding (often missing when using the ST shape tubes) and a powerful single ended 45 output that drives the Radiola 106 Loudspeaker, the top of the line loudspeaker available at the time (the one used with the Theremin) producing a fantastic and powerful sound for a 1929 receiver. 40"H x 27"W x 15"D.
