THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Originally it was called the "Little Jewel" by the manufacturer. It was dubbed its current nickname by collectors because it does have the appearance of a 40/50's common household refrigerator. The 40's definitely brought a radical change in American cars as well as appliances. They both became less square cut and more streamlined. This compact six tube radio is quite powerful for its size. It has a built in loop antenna with a connection for an external one as well. This radio came in a variety of colors from the factory but I don't think it came in this color; but it does look cool doesn't it? The body is solid brass, and the end caps are Bakelite. The radio itself has been completely restored with all new caps and everything else checked and aligned for maximum performance. It has the smallest footprint of any six tube set you can own! About 11 pounds packed. 9"H x 6"W x 5-1/2"D. |
