Air Castle 5000 (1937)
(wood tube table radio)

Air Castle 5000 (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Air Castle was Sold by Spiegel who did most of their business by mail order, as did Sears. It was not nearly as populous as the Silvertones or Airlines but they were all very high end sets. This cabinet has beautiful deco style lines. It needed no refinishing; it has its original finish to my knowledge. The dial and eye escutcheons are solid bronze and the knobs are original Bakelite. The radio has been restored and it plays pretty good. I am going to guarantee it to play but not perfectly. I can pick up more stations with other sets just to be perfectly honest, but I have spent as much time on it as I am going to. The antenna wire may need to be added to depending on your location. As you see the eye tube is near new, and it does function. The colorful original dial is plastic. It has a very small repaired crack in the center, nearly impossible to notice.
