THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
This quite large table/mantle radio is one of the collector's favorites with its giant airplane type dial, big 8" speaker and push pull output tubes for great sounding tone. Truetone was a brand name sold exclusively through Western Auto stores. This particular model was actually made by the Detrola company for W.A. The "magic eye" tube has been added, so the purists may call it a "frankentone," but actually back in the late 30's there were manufacturers who made retrofit kits so dealers or radio shops could add an eye tube to any superhet radio. The eye tube works perfectly. This radio, as all my attic radios, has been completely restored and it plays loud and clear, of course my guarantee applies. It has great selectivity and even picks up shortwave with an external antenna. Weight: 28 pounds packed (I will use a lot of packing). 21"W x 11"H x 9"D. |
