Zenith 4-B-314 (1939)
(Bakelite tube table radio)

Zenith 4-B-314 (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This radio is Bakelite with about a four year old paint job. It was originally designed to operate on 6V battery power but I modified it to work on 115 VAC current. The radio has a new power transformer and related parts in the power supply. It originally had a synchronous vibrator, thus eliminating the need for a rectifier tube, so I used silicone diodes for that purpose. Other than that the rest of it is original except new capacitors. The radio sounds great. It will pull most local stations even without an antenna, but a short length of wire is usually necessary to bring the stations in. This is a true "Art Deco" set. I don't use that term loosely like so many eBay sellers do. The double curve and wraparound louvers truly make it a Deco set from the late thirties. I think the bright red finish goes good with the Zenith gold dial and original ivory knobs. 16 pounds.
