THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Introduced in June of 1938, it was called the "World's Fair" model, in anticipation of its appearance at the 1939 New York World's Fair, which opened in April of 1939. The 5-R-317 features Zenith's "Transcontinental Automatic Tip Touch Tuning," an innovation new for the 1939 model year that was offered on sets. The 5-R-317 is tuned using either the regular rotary tuning knob (lower right), active when the lowest push-button, labelled "dial," is pressed, or by pushing one of the five "automatic tuning" buttons, preset to a favorite station. My tech has completed updates to the electronics and the radio is a fantastic player. All of the functions work perfectly. The cabinet has been refinished and the speaker cloth replaced with a highly accurate replacement. A mini-jack has been installed to allow your connection to any modern device. Bluetooth is available for an additional $25! 14"W x 8-1/2"H x 8"D. |
