Air Castle "Tulip Grille" (1937)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Air Castle "Tulip Grille" (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

With nearly fifty years of collecting, simply there are radios I have only seen in books. Before you are one of them, as it is so scarce I have seen only this one. Air Castle was the house brand for Spiegel Catalogue Company and Macy's Department Stores. The radio is so distinctive with the dramatic tulip shaped grille and it has a motor drive allowing the preset of your favorite channels with a push of the button change. The radio is a six-tube model playing on both AM and Shortwave. The cabinet was refinished by a previous owner and the speaker cloth is an accurate replacement. The balance of the radio is factory original. Les has completed his professional repairs and the radio is a fine player. Made for Spiegel by the famed RPC factory from Chicago, the electronics are first class. The motor works great and the radio is like it left the factory. Les added a mini-jack for your input of any modern device or add a Bluetooth receiver for only $25. Rare, rare, rare! 17-5/8"W x 9-3/4"H x 9-1/2"D.
