Austin A.Howard Model A (1935)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Austin A.Howard Model A (1935)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This is one of the most interesting radios I have seen in quite some time. The quality of the cabinet is stunning with book matched panels, surrounding a pencil inlay. The radio is further decorated with carefully carved columns, with great detail. Note the high relief casted bronze escutcheon, giving the finest element decoration to a keyhole dial. The finish is in factory original condition, highly decorated inlay knobs, and a nice reproduction speaker cloth on the top of the radio, where the speaker is located. The radio chassis is a remarkable receiver too. The powerful seven-tube chassis is extraordinary in design, with chrome plated IFs. The radio plays on the broadcast (AM) band. The fully functioning clock is highly advanced for this time line, as it is a self starter. My technician has given both electronic elements of this showpiece great attention. The repairs have returned the clock and radio to perfect operating conditions. Note that he has added a fine silk reproduction power cord and Bakelite plug, just as it had leaving the factory. 18-1/2"H x 13-3/4"W x 11"D.
