THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
A popular small table set, this Transitone is solid pine with pronounced wrap-around louvers carved out. The upper and lower contrasting stripes are also pine; this is not veneer but actually a thicker strip of wood applied to all three sides. The finish is possibly original and has a wonderful aged patina; there is some checking on the top left. The original knobs and plastic dial cover are in excellent shape, the metal dial face is super and has a nice reflective quality. The dial pointer is straight. I believe the radio is from around 1939 and the pointer a replica of the trylon and perisphere made popular at the New York World's Fair that year. The radio does not play but the chassis is clean and complete. |
