| Fully articulated novelty radios are hard to find. Normally a square or rectangular casing with an embossed figure or just a head on the top is used; there's even a version of this one. This is one great 3-D character depiction (ca. 1970) of the cartoon mascot of StarKist commercials of the 60s & 70s. This sad sack's goal in life was to be caught by a StarKist tuna boat, but they were always rejecting him. Charlie is in excellent condition, is very clean inside and he even has the stand, which is almost always missing! Takes a 9V battery (not included) and plays very loud; I can get many stations but am unable to turn the volume down with the on/off thumbwheel, may be a simple fix. |
