Zenith Royal 500D (1958)
(plastic transistor shirtpocket radio)

Zenith Royal 500D (1958)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Offered here is an eight-transistor Zenith Royal 500 model D transistor radio. The model D was the first of the Owl designs to claim the Long Distance distinction. The latest of the model D's like this one have the "500D" on the gold faceplate between the knobs and indicates that a new "expanded range" speaker is inside. These 500D's have gained the reputation with collectors of being excellent DX'ers. Click here to read more information on this model. The nice example offered here is in beautiful collector condition. The bright white cabinet is blemish free and the metal trim is just as nice. All lettering on the back is clear and sharp. Inside, the 8AT40Z2 chassis is clean and has been professionally restored to original operating condition. When I installed four "AA" batteries, the radio jumped to life and was a pleasure to "play with." If you are looking for an excellent looking and operating Zenith transistor, this gem would not disappoint.
