(plastic transistor portable radio)

Panasonic R70 "Panapet" (1970)

Here is a popular novelty radio from Panasonic that was all the rage in the 70s. This AM radio is a ball-shaped radio that hangs from a chain. There are two chrome plated dials on the surface to control the tuning and volume, with the tuning display itself set into the ball. Initially released as an AM only radio, customers could choose from red, yellow, white, blue and green colors. This example is orange in color and is in nice condition. It includes the often missing chain and operates fine on a 9 volt battery.
