THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Around the middle of 1956, the Royal 500 was revised to this 2nd generation 500. The major change outside was larger knobs for easier operation. Inside, a mass-produced printed circuit board chassis replaced the hand wired one to help keep up with the high demand. Zenith added the color white to the black and maroon line-up, and for a short time, produced some in tan and pink. The tan and pink ones are scarce and highly sought after by collectors today. The radio cost $75.00 new when it was introduced in 1956. This radio has an early 7ZT40 chassis serial #148,470. The radio plays amazing across the band. There are no chips or cracks on the nice scratch-free maroon cabinet. The back has full lettering and the front has beautiful gold metal trim. It is clean inside and out and has been recapped and aligned to assure many years of peak service to its new owner. The radio weighs 16 ounces and runs on four "AA" batteries. 6"H x 3-1/2"W x 1-3/4"D. |
