THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
This is a nice example of a maroon hand-wired (or first generation) Royal 500. The 7XT40Z1 chassis (serial #46,084) is all original and playing nicely with good volume and station pull across the dial. The tuning capacitor is stamped 5/29/56. The cabinet is chip and crack free and has a nice shine. The bright gold metal accents are scratch free. The radio is clean inside and out and the battery box is undamaged. The gold stand is strong and straight and snaps into position. Just a great example of the maroon hand-wired radio. One nice additional feature of this radio is the sticker on the battery door which announces that the Royal 500 was Rated Best of the new pocket transistor radios. Not many of the hand-wired units received this sticker and very few stickers have survived the past 55 years. Includes nice original leather case and strap. |
