Here is an excellent example of the rare Zenith Royal 800, Zenith's first transistor portable. These were introduced in early 1956 in limited numbers because of the popularity of the Royal 500 at that same time. The Royal 800 was ahead of its time. It is powered by eight "C" batteries and the 7ZT41 chassis (serial # 109,920) puts out an amazing 500 milliwatts of powerful sound through its 4" speaker. Well, I am here to tell you that this one is hitting on all 500 milliwatts and the tone and station pull I rate at 10.0 and you will, too. The nylon cabinet is also in great condition with no damage to report. The large grille and trim ring are nice, just a few scratches, and no dents. Your Zenith collection is not complete until you have a Royal 800 in it. How long will it be until another one this nice becomes available? |
