THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Talk about being way ahead of their time, Hoffman Electronics Corp. in Los Angeles, California introduced the world's first sun powered transistor radios in 1959, and here is their most popular model. This bright red with gold grille model did not work for me when tested in the sun as the solar panel looks melted, but it does still play very strong (and without static) when 4 volts of battery power is applied. The cosmetic condition is outstanding inside and out as it is clean down to the very last detail. All labels inside are clean: Model RP 706, battery Mallory TR233R or equivalent, Serial #048679, Union Made. The battery door is perfect with the latch working fine. Excellent example of this rare radio. |
