(plastic tube portable radio)

Zenith Royal 2000 (1959)

Nice example of the first American made all transistor cordless AM/FM portable radio. These were introduced in 1959 at a price of $189.95. The hand-wired chassis features 11 transistors and is powered by eight "D" batteries. There is no lack of power with this radio. Known for the deep rich tone, this model was called the Trans-Symphony. It has a tone control with a wide variation range for any type of music or talk. Condition is nice as shown with no problems to report. The sound is something to be heard.
