THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Early hand-wired Royal 500. This is Zenith's first transistor radio. It is a hand-crafted piece of art made before high demand forced made it necessary to change to a faster printed circuit board production method. This one is an early serial number of 43,228 made a few months after they were introduced in November of 1955. This radio has a black finish with gold trim that looks old and classy. There are some scratches (mostly on the back), but no chips or cracks as the "unbreakable" nylon cabinets of these sets really held up well. This set still works on four common "AA" batteries and will pull your local stations. The chassis is clean and the battery contacts are solid. Many more years of life left in this set. Comes with its original leather case (with shoulder strap). |
