Crosley radios sold!

Crosley 173 (1934)
(wood tube table radio)

Crosley 173 (1934)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Six tubes, BCB (550-1500 KHz) and SW (1500-3100 KHz) An early (1934) pre-octal superhet circuit for AC or DC power. Electrolytic condensers that needed replacing have been replaced with new and concealed inside the old. The existing paper condensers have been retained to avoid destroying the integrity of the set--some of the older condensors are multi-function sealed within cans so I didn't want to deface them. The set plays very well on BCB with full rich sound due to heavy components and solid construction. The SW band reception is weak, but there is not much action on that band these days so I left it as-is. The small tombstone cabinet is beautiful fluted wood, the front tastefully inlayed with a strip of marquetry. Controls are both back lit and have been cleaned and lubed. A working example of early radio technology preserved as close to original as possible.
