Hallicrafters S-38B Communications Receiver (1950)
(communications gear)

Hallicrafters S-38B Communications Receiver (1950)

Entry level receiver for amateurs and SWLs. Best cosmetic condition S-38B I've encountered. Front panel almost perfect; top has some minor paint touch-up. Original back and bottom covers. Four bands from 550kHz to 30.5mHz plus bandspread tuning. Receives AM stations and, using the CW option, tunes CW and SSB stations. To eliminate shock hazard due to one side of the power line's being connected to the chassis, I installed an isolation transformer. As with all radios I sell, all paper and electrolytic capacitors, out-of -tolerance resistors, faulty tubes, and any other faulty parts were replaced. RF circuits were aligned to peak up performance and make the dial read accurately. Performs well with supplied short wire. For better performance, use a longer or outside antenna. A copy of the original operating manual is included. Radio will be packed using bubble wrap and double boxed. No packing or handling cost. Compute shipping cost from 93428 zip at 15 pounds. Recommend insurance.
