This was a kit radio made in Japan. As you can see it is a great conversation piece. The three tubes are functional in the circuit which operates on five 9 volt and one "C" battery. Yes, the batteries are included. It uses the same type of tuner seen on early 1920's Crosley sets. It remains true to the era because it is no walk in the park to pull in a station on this set. With some fussing I could get two to three stations with not a lot of volume. The ON/OFF switch is also fussy. It comes with a functional ear phone, extra screws and spring. Also included is a microphone. I plugged it into the tube socket replacing the tube on the left and it did amplify my voice. One of the most innovative novelty sets you'll find ready to display and amuse. 17"H x 14-1/2"W x 5"D. |
