| Still known as the Philadelphia Storage Battery Co., Philco started the 1928 season promoting a line of AC powered radios including this model with matching 211 speaker. Despite the obvious flaws this is the best unrestored example I've seen. The lid had lots of scratches. I was able to get a good match on the brown paint and touched up some of the worst. That was the only thing I did to this radio. The original paint still retains a high gloss shine and overall the radio displays well. The original grille is damaged, but otherwise the speaker is in beautiful condition. The interior is spotless and all the tubes are globe type with the exception of the 80 tube. All the tubes check good and the radio plays, but with low volume. I'm offering this in as found condition to enjoy and display in original condition or to restore. |
