McMurdo Silver Masterpiece III Console Radio
(wood tube console radio)

McMurdo Silver Masterpiece III Console Radio

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Advertised in 1934 as a forward design with a round dial which was a new advancement at that time. This radio was in a private collection for 25 years with no cabinet. the receiver is all original. The cover and face panel have been re-chromed. The balance of the chassis retains the original chrome. There is minor surface corrosion, but as you can see it still displays well. The chassis has been serviced and cleaned. All controls and moving parts were lubricated. The 12" speaker was used with early Scott sets and it is not original to the radio. The power supply is from an early Scott Allwave 12. It was completely rebuilt to match the one used with the Masterpiece III. It uses the correct tubes and connections for an original look. The cabinet is a custom design made from a period correct cabinet, but not an original McMurdo. The radio plays well and a rare opportunity to purchase this hard to find set.
