Philco 16B "Baby Grand" (1933)
(wood tube cathedral radio w/SW)

Philco 16B "Baby Grand" (1933)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

BC + 5SW. The 16B Baby Grand radio was one of three Philco model 16 sets introduced in June of 1933, the other two being the 16L lowboy and the 16X inclined sounding board model. It was the largest Philco Baby Grand and was their top of the line table set through June of the following year. The cabinet on this set has been restored using the correct toning lacquer as the original, and also featured the correct reproduction of the original grille cloth and the original knobs. The 11 tube chassis has also been completely restored including rebuilding of the two speed 8:1 and 60:1 tuning assembly, restuffing of all the Bakelite block capacitors including the ones in the tone control, new volume control and all the correct tube shields and correct original speaker. Performance is just fantastic! It was the best short wave set you could buy at the time unless you spent hundreds more on a Scott receiver or the like. Chassis also features a tuning shadow meter and 10W of undistorted output into its 8" speaker, Just a fantastic set! I have its twin in my own collection! 19-1/2"H x 16-1/2"W x 13"D.
