The back opens with a snap to insert the batteries. You can see in the additional pictures how clean the radio is on the inside. Works with four "AA" batteries (which are included). The electronic battery-saver circuit adds up to 30% more battery life. This radio has a carry handle and an extra leather shoulder strap. It has an AC Power Jack, and earphone jack, It has Automatic Frequency Control (AFC) on FM that keeps the set electronically locked in and tuned to your station. This GE radio has a big 3-1/2" speaker that "delivers outstanding response and fine tone quality." It has two antennas; an external FM Multi-position telescoping antenna on the side of the radio that measures 26-3/4" when fully extended and a built-in antenna for your AM reception.
