Wells-Gardner 9A (1934)
Sold by Lew Magrish on June 8, 2019
Listed price on date of sale - $499.00
Here is a deluxe mantle radio from the famed Chicago maker Wells Gardner. A very high quality maker of many radios, the bulk for the better catalogue sellers of the 1930's as house brands. This model under their own label is a very ornate radio featuring hand laid beading in the most elaborate and fine craftsmanship in the cabinetry. The radio is all original including the paper dials without tears or measurable wear. The chassis is a fine early super-het that uses five tubes to receive both AM and shortwave. Les has done his usual excellent repairs returning the radio to a like new playing condition. Les also added a mini-jack to the circuit allowing you to connect your modern device to the radio and the ability to have an unlimited choice of content. This is a handsome set! 11-1/4"W x 8"H x 7"D.
