Grebe 89 Tombstone (1934)

Grebe 89 Tombstone (1934)
Grebe 89 Tombstone (1934)
Sold by Lew Magrish on March 19, 2013
Listed price on date of sale - $599.00
This is a rare set from one of the finest and most prized makers. Grebe was known in the earlier, battery powered radio era, but did make a very few AC powered sets. This classically designed tombstone is detailed with a fine pinstripe inlay on either column and classic design. The powerful eight-tube super-het chassis is a very sophisticated design for the era. The radio does show some age, but I brought it in due to the rarity and quality of the electronics. Note the powerful eight-tube super-het chassis; phonograph connections on the rear and a socket for plug in coils! I appreciated the highly detailed design of the escutcheon with the famed design of the company logo. My technician has done a complete repair and the radio is a tremendous player for his efforts. The radio has a new silk power cord and Bakelite plug for your safe use. This is an impressively sized tombstone at 18-1/2"H x 15-3/4"W x 12"D.
