|Sold by Gary Ball on June 5, 2013|
Listed price on date of sale - $450.00
|Beginning around the middle of 1956, the Royal 500 was revised to this 2nd generation 500. The major change outside was larger knobs for easier operation. Inside, a mass-produced printed circuit board chassis replaced the hand wired one to help keep up with the high demand. The wire stand also acts as a handle making this set very portable. It operates on four common "AA" batteries. This particular ebony example is chassis 7ZT40 serial #228,749 749 (assembled around July, 1956). Looking at it is like taking a walk back in time. The radio is in as nice condition as you could imagine and looks to be unused. It must have spent the past 56 years protected in the felt bag and original shipping carton. Original accessories that are included in this unique offering are the new and unused split leather case, operating guide, felt bag, and shipping carton. Because this is a pristine example, it is a true investment piece. 5-7/8"H x 3-1/2"W x 1-3/4"D; weight 17 ounces.|
