I've owned at least a dozen of these Zenith Trans-Oceanic "Bomber" sets. Frankly, most of them had taken a beating over the years, but this is the best of them all. It came from the estate of a Maine doctor who wanted the best available, and cost was no issue to him. My son says it's time for someone else to enjoy it. Almost everyone knows the rich history of this first Zenith portable shortwave radio. This is serial #T886394, in the last 1,000 of the 25,000 "Bombers" made before Zenith was forced to stop production to assist in the War effort. I recently took this to my Tech Friend Tom to have it checked out. He said it was previously restored, resoldered a bad connection, and sent it back. I could pick up AM and shortwave. It is not perfect, but it is the best I've ever seen. I've found that those who collect these either just display them or restore and tweak them back to original specifications. The choice is yours. 17"W x 10"H x 7"D.
