Crosley Radio Corp., Cincinnati, Ohio was started by Powell Crosley, Jr. and he eventually owned the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. I can imagine how satisfying it must have been for Mr. Crosley to be by one of his radios and listen to a broadcast of his team playing baseball. He owned the team throughout the 1930's, so he very well may have listened to one of these small tombstones. This is a five-tube set with a 5-inch speaker. The compact 1937-38 517 Fiver tombstones are very popular probably due to their smaller size and the famous gold mirror dial. The chassis was removed and cleaned and all controls were cleaned and lubricated. Controls: On/Off/Volume, Tuning and Band. The tubes were tested and weak or defective tubes were replaced. All electrolytic and wax paper capacitors were upgraded to current production capacitors. All resistors were tested and any out of tolerance were replaced. The cabinet was stripped and refinished with perfect brown Mohawk toner with extra dark walnut toner on the edges. The cabinet was sprayed with multiple coats of Mohawk nitrocellulose lacquer. About 12-1/2"H x 10-7/8"W x 6-3/4"D, 10 pounds.
