Some people consider the Philco 16B to be the finest table radio ever made. There were six different radios in the 16B and 116B line. This radio is the second version of three "16" models. It's a monster of a radio with four bands (SB, SWx3) eleven tubes and a 10-inch speaker pushing out ten pure watts of push-pull audio! I found this radio on a farm in LaGrande OR. The man who had it said his father bought it new, and he always remembers that radio being part of his life. The family took great care of this radio, as evident in its wonderful original condition. We restored the chassis, replacing all of the capacitors, checking and replacing resistors and tubes where needed. It's a daunting task as the radio contains thirteen capacitor "blocks" that have to be restored. A precision alignment was done, making this radio a very strong performer. The tuner is sensitive and the shadow meter functions as it should. The cabinet was untouched (all I did was clean it up), retaining its original knobs and grille cloth. 22"H x 17"W x 12"D.
