Emerson 706B (1953)
Sold by Tom Albrecht on July 29, 2019
Listed price on date of sale - $120.00
Emerson made some of the most compact tube radios over the years. This example is only 5 inches wide, but houses a complete All American Five chassis with a 4-inch speaker. The cabinet is grey injection molded plastic, a material just coming into widespread use in the early 1950s. The cabinet is free of any damage and has a good original surface finish. The chassis has been fully restored, with all new capacitors, several new resistors, a good set of tubes, and a complete RF/IF alignment. Like any well-aligned five-tube radio that leaves my shop, it performs like new, with excellent sensitivity, good sound quality, and no performance issues of any kind. The small knob on the lower right is the on/off volume control, and the circular star pattern in the lower left of the grille is the pilot light. This very compact radio will be inexpensive to ship. 6-1/2"H x 5"W x 5"D.
