The top-mounted thumbwheel-style controls have given rise to the nickname "Frog Eyes" for this Bakelite table radio from Setchell-Carlson. It's a good looking set, with the only defect being a very small mouse bite out of the Bakelite at the lower left corner of the dial (see picture). Otherwise it's free of cracks or significant scratches. The big front grille hides a 6-inch speaker, which is much larger and better sounding than most table radios. The six-tube chassis (with extra RF amplifier stage) is really a hot performer; you'll be impressed at just how sensitive a radio like this can be! Originally this set had an exposed hot chassis; I've rewired it with a more modern floating ground (no direct line connection to chassis), a polarized power cord, and a change in the switch circuitry to make this radio very safe to use. Electrical restoration also included the usual replacement of all paper and electrolytic capacitors, a few new resistors, installation of a strong set of tubes, and full RF/IF alignment. As you can see in the picture, the chassis is clean as a whistle. Lighted dial. 12"W x 8-1/4"H x 7-1/2"D.
