Emerson 637 Television (1949)

Emerson 637 Television (1949)
Emerson 637 Television (1949)
Sold by Tom Albrecht on November 15, 2013
Listed price on date of sale - $415.00
This Emerson 10" tabletop TV from 1949 has a screen with rounded sides -- a characteristic from the brief period around 1950 when manufacturers were trying to squeeze the largest possible picture size from small round picture tubes. A few years later, rectangular tubes were introduced, and round-edged black and white screens were history. This set has a dark mahogany cabinet with its original finish in very good condition. The chassis has been fully restored and works like new. Restoration included replacement of all electrolytic and paper capacitors, replacement of selenium rectifiers with silicon rectifiers, replacement of bad resistors, and a full alignment. The picture tube produces a bright sharp picture that you will enjoy watching your favorite old shows on. I can advise you regarding suitable signal sources for antique TVs, such as a VCR, DVD or Blu-Ray player with modulator, or DTV converter box. 64 lbs. 20"W x 13-1/2"H x 20"D.
