Emerson 540 Midget (1947)
Emerson 540 Midget (1947)
Sold by David Spivey on June 5, 2015
Listed price on date of sale - $329.00
Emerson post-War midget in a beautiful fire engine red Plaskon case. This is NOT a painted radio, it is a solid color red Plaskon case. This red color and the pistachio green color are extremely hard to find. This case is in near mint cosmetic condition. One very small unnoticeable repair on the back right corner. The midget knobs are original, as well as the back and the grille cloth. The radio has been recapped and is playing fine, better with a little antenna wire added. Here is a description from a 1947 ad for the radio: "Emerson Radio Model 540. World's Smallest AC-DC Superheterodyne. Alnico 5 Permanent Magnetic Dynamic Speaker, Built-In Super Loop, Automatic Volume Control, Many Other Advance 'Big-Set' Features. Choice of Four Colors-Walnut/Ivory/Red and Green." 6-1/2"W x 4-3/4"H x 3-1/4"D.
