Motorola 53LC1 Portable (1953)

Motorola 53LC1 Portable (1953)
Sold by David Spivey on February 16, 2014
Listed price on date of sale - $89.00
Motorola portable from 1953 with a hand wound clock. These four tube sets originally sold for $45 in 1953, quite a bit of money for a beach radio. They came in three colors: dark green, gray and maroon. Three sub-miniature tubes and one standard tube. This radio plays great, picking up all my local AM stations. It has been recapped and checked completely by a professional. The clock, which is hand wound, has been over-wound and is not working. The case is in excellent condition, with no cracks, chips or hairline cracks. There is a paint chip on two, but nothing major. Handle and line cord are in perfect condition. I will include a color copy of the neat 1953 advertisement for the radio. About 9"W x 8"H x 2-3/4"D.
