Emerson 511 (1947)

Emerson 511 (1947)
Sold by David Spivey on April 25, 2013
Listed price on date of sale - $324.00
The design of this Emerson radio has been attributed to the famous industrial designer Raymond Loewy, who also designed the original Coca-Cola bottle. The model 511 was available in five colors. The red & green sets are near impossible to find without damage. The swirling in this green Plaskon case is very dramatic. The case is in practically mint condition. Doesn't even have that little notorious little hairline crack on the front edge that almost all these models have. The plastic dial cover, which floats over the metal grille, is clear. The dial lamp is hidden in the small plastic piece at the top. All 100% original knobs & all. The radio has been recapped, and is playing well, picking up all my local AM stations. About 10-1/2"W x 7-1/2"H x 6"D.
