Emerson 511 (1946)

Emerson 511 (1946)
Sold by David Spivey on October 23, 2012
Listed price on date of sale - $129.00
This Emerson radio's design is attributed to Raymond Loewy, one of the greatest industrial designers of the 20th century. It is also referred to as the "Moderne." The clear plastic dial cover floats over the gold metal mesh grille. It's very striking when the dial lamp bleeds down through the plastic dial when the radio is turned on. It came in several colors (Brown, Ivory Plaskon, Red Swirled, Green Swirled, and Ivory Swirled). About 99% of these Plaskon cases have a hairline on the front edge. This case is perfect, no hairline cracks. And the radio is playing very well. No filter hum. Convenient handle to carry, and provide ventilation. 10-1/2"W x 7"H x 6"D.
