Truetone D-727 (1937)

Truetone D-727 (1937)
Sold by Phil Bartells on October 4, 2016
Listed price on date of sale - $949.00
This rare and very impressive radio is seldom seen or offered for sale. Manufactured by Detrola for the Western Auto "Truetone" brand, it uses the same chassis as the Detrola 175-E (which I sold on July 26th). With nine tubes, it receives the Broadcast band (550 to 1700 KC) and Short Wave in two bands from 1.7 to 17 MC. Has a bright "eye" tube for tuning, 8" speaker for great sound, nine station presets with motorized tuning (working) using the pushbuttons below the dial, and a brightly illuminated dial for night use. Had a complete electronics tuneup with all new capacitors, tubes and resistors checked and replaced as needed (chassis pics available). The cabinet was professionally restored using the same type nitrocellulose lacquer as originally used. It displays beautifully and will be a highlight of any collection. Aux input cable has been added: play your favorite tunes or old time radio shows from CD player, iPod, etc. A Bluetooth receiver can be added and you can stream tunes from your phone, laptop, etc. 90 day warranty. Large and heavy: 26 lbs, 21"W x 12"H x 9"D.
