Philco radios sold!
|Sold by Phil Bartells on August 11, 2008|
Listed price on date of sale - $549.00
|This vintage Philco cathedral is a beautiful seven tube superheterodyne radio! Designed by Edward L. Combs, it is one of the finest cathedral radios ever made. Introduced in 1931 to offset a drop in sales of high priced sets, the Philco cathedral went on to become one of the most popular radios of all time and is highly sought after by collectors. It filled a need for a low priced radio during the depression (priced at $49.95, nearly 300,000 model 70's were sold). This was electronically serviced several years ago by Antique Radio Restoration & Repair (Pomfret Center, CT) so it was done right. It may have the original finish (if not it was well done), works extremely well & covers the broadcast band. It is complete with original speaker, knobs, etc. (best I can tell), is super selective, perfectly aligned, super clear sound and ready to enjoy! 18"H x 16-1/2"W x 12"D, shipping weight 30 pounds.|
