Airline radios sold!

Listed price on date of sale - $275.00
|Here is a piece of history for your consideration. First the radio itself: The chassis has been completely gone thru and all caps replaced, resistors and tubes replaced as necessary. My guarantee applies. The eye tube is a NOS 6E5. Now the cabinet. Of course I refinished it and used multiple coats of clear gloss lacquer. This radio was made in 1939. Actually in 1938 to be sold in 1939. Anyhow it was sold by Montgomery Wards. The chassis was made by Belmont, but the cabinet could have come from any source (could it have come from Germany?). Look carefully at the middle of the grille. The US had not yet been involved in WW2 but the Nazi regime was pounding Europe at the time. It's anyone's guess where that design come from, but even more bizarre that it actually hit the marketplace in the US! I know that if I owned this set by the time we went to war with the Nazis I would have burned it. Well that fact alone could be a reason that this model is extremely rare to find. BTW, if you want to see the left side email me. It is OK; I just ran out of picture spots. About 17 lbs packed. 17"W x 9-1/2"H x 8"D.|
