Another Chicago "Plant A" radio apparently made by Allied Radio Corporation, most likely sold as a Knight brand. The B10509 schematic comes close to this set. As you can see the cabinet was drilled for a three-knob configuration, and a wood plug was placed in the center hole. But the hodge podge design doesn't stop there. The dial scale says AM & Shortwave, yet there is no shortwave band on this set! Further confusing is what *may* have been a tone control, the first knob on the left, does absolutely nothing as the potentiometer is not connected to anything! The right knob is off/on/volume and direct tuning is done with the flat knob over the dial scale. All of these things make me wonder if this wasn't a prototype of some kind, as there is absolutely no markings on the chassis or cabinet as far as make or model number. At any rate, this is a four-tube plus ballast TRF circuit, utilizing primitive early 1920's technology. As such it requires an external antenna to receive even strong local stations. No AVC and my usual 3.5mm aux cord could not be installed. Comes with a set of tubes that tested strong, all new paper and filter capacitors, out of tolerance resistors replaced, and a new line cord. Cabinet was refinished by the previous owner. 12"W x 8"H x 6-1/2"D. $99.00. (1790504)
