Aetna 653 (1936)
(wood tube table radio w/SW/Aux or BT)

Aetna 653 (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Six tube cube-style cabinet radio made for distribution by Walgreens drug stores. Like so many retail giants, they adopted the distinct brand name after the mystical Mount Aetna in Greece. Most interesting was their adoption on the multi-colored dial with the mountain proudly displayed. And what a beautiful dial it is. Really looks stunning in a darkened room. Two-band chassis (AM & SW) features a set of strong tested tubes, all capacitors have been replaced, resistors replaced as needed. New line cord. Controls cleaned and lubricated for smooth operation. Original FC speaker replaced with a same size PM and new output transformer. It requires an external antenna to be attached to the chassis to receive short wave and more distant AM stations. Its cabinet has been totally refinished, with multiple shades of spray toner, and topped with a light coat of clear enamel for durability. New period correct grille cloth. Plus I added my aux 3.5 mm cord at no extra charge to allow even more listening options beyond what you find on the AM band. 14-1/2"W x 12"H x 8-1/2"D.
