Coronado 740 (1937)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Coronado 740 (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

There actually were several Coronado model 740's, each with a different cabinet and some with only six tubes. This seven-tube set uses a chassis made by Belmont for Coronado. But what a chassis it is! It has two 6F6 output tubes in push-pull, and a 6C5 phase inverter ahead of it. With its large 8-inch diameter speaker, this set offers about 10-11 watts of output for console sound in a table model. It has lots of volume and is amazingly sensitive with its long wire antenna attached to an external antenna source. The chassis has been totally recapped, out of tolerance resistors replaced, tubes tested strong. Because the original glass dial scale was broken, I created a new scale mounted behind a piece of Lexan. It looks good, the only downside being the dial lamps are not as effective as on the original side-lit glass. The cabinet was stripped & refinished using spray toners topped with a light coat of clear enamel for durability. This is really a great sounding radio, and with the added 3.5mm aux cord your listening options are endless. Bargain priced, it would make a great Christmas present for the radio connoisseur on your list! 21"W x 12"H x 9"D.
