Tesla 308U "Talisman" (1953)

Tesla 308U "Talisman" (1953)
The 308U "Talisman" is a gorgeous example of Deco Streamline design. Although designed in the 1930s, the Tesla 308U radio was only put into production between 1953-1958. Manufactured in Czechoslovakia, its sleek lines rival anything produced during the Deco era. This all-original set is in near mint condition. Its seldom seen black Bakelite case with vertical louvered grille has no cracks, hairlines or chips. All ivory knobs are original, as is the dial, dial glass, grille cloth and back panel. The reverse-painted dial glass is in perfect condition with all station names intact. Having bought this directly from a Czech seller, it still has the EU plug attached. The chassis can be converted from 220V to 110V, selected by a switch plug in the lower right corner, but I've not done so. The Czech seller I bought it from assured me the radio plays very well. However, since I've never played this set it is being sold as "non-working" and I'll leave it to you, the next lucky buyer, to convert it and have it serviced. Personally, I've gotten much enjoyment just looking at it! Another great radio from my personal, smoke-free collection. About 12-1/2"W x 7-1/2"H x 5-3/4"D.  $395.00. (1750063)
