Stewart-Warner R-108 (1933/34)
(metal tube table radio)

Stewart-Warner R-108 (1933/34)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

We, in the antique radio business throw the term "rare" around a bit. I've been trying to think of a more appropriate word to use for this amazing little Stewart Warner Chrome finish R-108 "Lady's Head." I can't find it in any radio literature anywhere. It may be the only one in existence. While the grille design and shape are the same as the R-108X that I sold recently, the rest is totally different. Different chassis. Different tube lineup. Different case design, with a removable back cover. It also has a plug on back for a 6V vibrator power supply. The chrome finish is gorgeous, with a little blemishing on the right side where it looks like someone tried to polish out some scratches. You can only see it if you get the light just right. Very difficult to photograph as it is so darn shiny. Performance is what you should expect from a 1933 four-tube TRF. It has a reed style 5-inch speaker, so the sound is no show stopper. The grille cloth is what was in it. No idea what it had originally. If you want to add some sparkle and shine to your collection, and you like to have something no one else has, Here it is! It has the early 30s antenna type volume control, so you have to crank it up for weak stations. Requires an external antenna. 8"W x 7-1/2"H x 5"D.
