Stewart-Warner R-108X "Lady's Head" (1932/33)
(metal tube table radio)

Stewart-Warner R-108X "Lady's Head" (1932/33)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This adorable little Stewart-Warner R-108X is as rare as it is unique. Referred to in the trade as the "Lady's Head" for the speaker grille design, it is just too darn cute for words. The cabinet admittedly has a few flaws, but it is in very good condition for a 100 year old radio. The four-tube TRF chassis is no prize winner performance wise but that's to be expected from a little novelty radio where you can't cram in a lot of tubes and circuitry. The volume control is the antenna type, so you have to crank the volume for weaker stations. The chassis has been restored by a previous servicer, who replaced the rectifier with a solid state device. I cleared out a few bugs and installed three tubes in the remaining positions that all test new. Want something that very few collectors have? This is it! People will notice this little cutie. Requires an external antenna. 8"W x 7-1/2"H x 5"D.
